Print this pageForward this document  DT ScanDoc - Index dialog

The DT ScanDoc index dialog allows the user to rotate, add a page description (index entry) or discard each page in a DT ScanDoc file. A preview of the scanned page is shown in a window; that preview can be zoomed or scrolled to help check what the contents of the page are.

Using the Index dialog is optional. See the DT ScanDoc preferences to configure this.

  • Zoom and scroll

Click the [+] or [-] buttons to zoom in or out of the image in the preview window. Use the arrow buttons to move the image in the preview. The image starts fully visible (zoomed out) in the preview, so the scroll buttons and zoom out button are only available once you have zoomed in.

The zoom and scroll features are only used for reviewing the preview. They do not have any effect on the final DT ScanDoc file that will be created.

  • Rotate

If you scan the documents upside down or sideways, you may need to rotate the images before they are inserted into the DT ScanDoc file; click one of the three buttons under Rotate. If you rotate an image the preview is rotated, and the image is also rotated in the DT ScanDoc file.

  • Description

By default all pages are labelled Page 1, Page 2, etc. To make the resulting DT ScanDoc document more user-friendly, review each page in the preview window and enter the description here. For example, for the page description you might enter:
    RRSP receipt from TD Bank.

  • Discard this page

Click this box if do not want this page to appear in the DT ScanDoc file. A big red X will cover the preview image. If you have configured DT ScanDoc to automatically delete blank pages, then this box will be automatically checked for any page that is detected as blank.

The automatic detection of blank pages may fail in some circumstances, such as when a page contains a small amount of faint text, or is blank but heavily soiled. In these cases, just override the automatic choice by clicking this box.

Click Next page when you have reviewed and indexed each page. If you do not want to index any further pages, just click the Skip indexing button to go straight to the next step.
